The Dodgers say he was the third-fastest pitcher in major league history to compile 2,000 strikeouts.

Kershaw pitched seven innings, allowed the one run on two hits, had one walk and struck out 14.

"It will be cool someday. Sometimes you just kind of get on that roll", Kershaw said.

It was one of many strikeouts in what ended up being a stellar start for Kershaw.

The 29-year-old ace of the Dodgers has been the best pitcher in Major League Baseball since his first full season in 2009.
