6 ways macOS High Sierra will make your Mac much better

Alongside a new version of iOS and other assorted goodies, the company wowed attendees with the latest iteration of its desktop operating system, macOS High Sierra. APFS is the file storage system that is used on most of Apple's other products - iOS, tvOS, etc. As always, be sure to take a peek at Apple's official High Sierra page.

MacOS Sierra is (nearly) dead; long live macOS. However, Apple has done this in the past. It's all about refinement with this update. There's also a new service to stop ads from tracking you across the web. Chief among them are changes to the Safari web browser, which now delivers 80 percent faster browsing performance than Google Chrome, according to Apple Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi. For instance, Safari has gotten faster and now blocks autoplay ads by default so you don't hear some type of loud noise coming from an advertisement on a website you may not have meant to click on.

"It's time for a more modern file system", said Federighi.

There's no firm date on when AppleTV users can stream The Man In The High Castle to their dystopic hearts' content; Apple CEO Tim Cook said only that it will happen "later this year". On the top right, Apple has added filters to any screen within the Photos app so users can sort through their favourite images. There's also improvements to the editing capabilities, and - in a feature which will please many users - information you put in about faces is synced across your Apple devices. Hardware-accelerated H.265/HEVC video will be integrated across the operating system and Apple's apps. Basic improvements include crash protection and instant file and directory cloning, support for snapshots of the file system, and native full disk encryption (rather than logical volume encryption with FileVault 2).

macOS High Sierra will be available as a free upgrade to all Mac owners on systems which support macOS Sierra in Q3 2017.

'War Machine' sentenced to life in prison
She was later treated for several serious injuries, including a broken nose, lacerated liver, two lost teeth and a fractured rib. She told the judge she believed Koppenhaver would kill her once he is released from prison. "I hate that this happened".

Unlike others, Putin doesn't criticize Trump over decision
Putin attempted to flip the script by accusing the US of meddling in elections around the world. The dinner Putin referred to was a gala for the Russian state news agency, RT.

Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen sets Major League Baseball record for strikeouts without a walk
The 29-year-old ace of the Dodgers has been the best pitcher in Major League Baseball since his first full season in 2009. The Dodgers say he was the third-fastest pitcher in major league history to compile 2,000 strikeouts.

The second biggest change being introduced to macOS High Sierra is Apple's new API called Metal 2.

VR has been a focal point, and Apple as we know them to be, have been trying hard to tap into the AR and VR markets for a while now.

Virtual reality has been described as the next big thing for decades. Federighi claims the update brings a tenfold performance boost in draw calls, and a faster framerate debugger. Remember, VR and AR apps need heavy GPU power, so we're not surprised to hear Apple announce is doubling down.

It's also arguably an attempt by Apple to use iMessage to break into the "everything app" space that Facebook is already trying to reach. Instead, it touted the HomePod as an actual music listening device, created to be small and unobtrusive but, primarily, to make your tunes sound good.
