Florida Woman Accused of Letting Snake Bite 1-Year-Old Daughter

On Tuesday, the Highlands County Sheriff's Office said there is probable cause the mother violated the state child abuse statute.

"People are too sensitive", the mother said.

The Florida woman took a video, showing a snake biting her daughter.

"It had bitten me and my son and didn't leave a mark, several times", she told WFTS on Monday. St. Laurent considered the experience to be an educational opportunity for the toddler, and told the detectives she had let the red rat snake bite her, first, to make sure the girl would not be physically injured in the encounter.

The mother says that she found the snake on her driveway outside her property and made a decision to bring it inside to introduce it to her child. She reportedly found the snake in the driveway of her family's home.
