It's fitting that the final game of the 2017 National Basketball Association season was ultimately decided by what always seems to decide Golden State Warriors games.

One year after the most devastating collapse in NBA Finals history, the Golden State Warriors are back on top as NBA champions.

Yet the two-time reigning MVP and new NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant said Wednesday they would consider taking less money to keep the core of the champion Golden State Warriors intact.

"It's a team sport and I wanted to achieve the highest honor, which is win a championship", Durant said, saying it was fulfillment of a childhood dream.

Myers realizes adding Durant might not have worked so well with anyone but the Warriors. "I answered I wouldn't go. Obviously, he's more dominant than both me and Magic because of the way that he plays the game - his physicality, and his athleticism surpasses Magic, as well as me", he said. "So we'll handle that accordingly and responsibly and do the right thing for us individually and as a group".
