Megyn Kelly's much-touted interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on Sunday ended up getting worse ratings than a re-run of ABC's cheesy video compilation show - placing it in a distant fourth behind Fox's timeslot-winning U.S. Open golf coverage and CBS' flagship "60 Minutes".

As Radar readers know, Kelly received major attention and backlash after she announced her controversial interview with Jones, who shocked Sandy Hook Elementary survivors and their loved ones by denying the mass shooting's existence. Jones' views are clearly objectionable. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.

Some critics still felt, though, that while Kelly may have presented a strong interview, she and NBC erred in giving Jones, and his theories, a national platform. Forbes reported JPMorgan, along with several local advertisers, dropped spots from the show or, in the case of the financial company, the enirety of NBC News, until after the interview aired. Can't they just choose not to watch, just as I would not have watched the interview?

The interview with Jones, who founded the website Infowars, took up roughly a third of Kelly's newsmagazine show. Kelly could heard on the tape assuring Jones the NBC segment was not going to be a "hit piece". With a file from the Associated Press.

Ultimately, the public didn't seem all that interested in what Jones had to say.

"I think it's horrific", his ex told Inside Edition.

Kelly's NBC unveiling had clocked a 1.2 rating in the news demo, 25-54, delivering NBC's best non-sports crowd in the Sunday 7 PM slot since March 2016. Her star power had grown after she challenged Trump during a 2015 Republican debate on his history of sexist remarks and the candidate responded with a series of angry tweets and other comments, sometimes crude and personal, and boycotted a later debate because she was one of the moderators.
