Visiting flood-affected areas and blaming the ruling dispensation for shoddy relief-work is par for the course for any political party in a state where elections are due in a few months.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's vehicle was pelted with stones yesterday when he was visiting flood-hit Banaskantha district in Gujarat.

Rahul is first expected to go to Rajasthan, which was also lashed by torrential rain last week, before touring some of the worst affected areas in Gujarat's Banaskantha and Patan districts.

Earlier, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala informed that BJP goons broke Congress VP's auto with heavy stones on his way to the helipad after meeting flood victims at Dhanera. Later, he announced a Rs 1,500 crore relief package days after Modi assured central assistance of Rs 500 crore.
