I am hurt by this. "I consider this as a responsibility", he said.

Rift in JD (U) has been evident ever since Nitish Kumar announced breaking up of mahagathbandhan and joining BJP to form new government in Bihar.

JD-U leaders started targeting Yadav since last week after he spoke out against Nitish Kumar's decision to embrace the Bharatiya Janata Party.

It is speculated that the party will make its stand on Yadav official only when its National Executive meets in Patna on 19 August.

Yadav landed in Patna and hit the road from the state capital, moving through Hajipur, Sonepur and Muzaffarpur. He has not yet formally left the JD (U), or floated his own outfit.

Only one JD (U) leader from the state, former Bochahan MLA Ramai Ram, was among those who joined Yadav, following which reports emerged of several JD (U) leaders who support Kumar calling for action against Ram.

In the Dinakaran camp, the suspicion now is that the BJP has increased pressure on the two factions to merge quickly. But the rival camp of O Panneerselvam is unlikely to accept it as they want expulsion of Sasikala from the party.

As per his programme on his twitter account, he would visit the Muzaffarpur-Darbhanga-Madhubani stretch tomorrow and to Madhubani-Supual Madhepura the next day i.e. Not only has the senior JD (U) leader been vociferous in his opposition to the NDA in the Upper House, but has also called a meeting of all like-minded Opposition parties on August 17.

JD (U) secretary general K C Tyagi, a known aide of Yadav, indicated moving away from him and said "Sharad Yadav ji is unfortunately protesting against a decision taken by Bihar unit of the party to become part of NDA".

Tyagi said that the party was keeping a close watch over his activities and utterances. "Not even a panchayat pramukh was present to welcome him", a JD (U) spokesperson said.

Tyagi said that "the path that Sharad Yadav has chosen leads to the RJD" adding that Yadav was yet to comment on the corruption cases against RJD chief Lalu Yadav and his family. "The party is now not concerned whether he is with us or not", Neeraj added.

But now that Sharad has raised a bogey of revolt against Nitish, the veteran parliamentarian runs the risk of being isolated and eventually thrown out of the JD (U) much like his predecessor George Fernandes.

Kicking off the yatra, to protest "insult to the 2015 mandate" by Nitish Kumar, the former Deputy Chief Minister first offered an "apology" to Mahatma Gandhi near his life-size statue at Motihari, district headquarters of East Champaran, which is associated with Mahatma Gandhi's concept of satyagraha. Yadav had in the past termed Kumar's decision to ally with BJP as a betrayal of people's mandate. "These people (Nitish Kumar and his group) have no contribution for the party", he said.
