"I do believe that in particular when you mention those who call for the destruction of the State of Israel that that is a form of modern anti-Semitism", Guterres told President Reuven Rivlin at the President's Residence in Jerusalem.

"It is precisely because of the attempts to undermine Israel in the United Nations arena that we look forward to introducing the secretary general to Israel's true colors, its impressive achievements and its contributions to the world", Danon stated prior to the visit.

The UN makes it possible for nation states to work together as equals, for the sake of all humanity.

During his visit to Israel, Guterres will meet with the families of the missing Israelis in the Gaza Strip, but he is not expected to play a role in solving the crisis because he does not have relations with Hamas and is not supposed to meet with official representatives during his visit to the Gaza Strip.

Israeli officials however, have said that Guterres is primarily concerned with tackling the deteriorating situation in Gaza.

Ambassador Haley Visits IAEA to Get Info on Iran

Jerusalem- Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said that Israel would pressure UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, during his first visit since he took office, on the armament of Lebanon's Hezbollah. Netanyahu added that the United Nations is in charge of peace, but it allows Palestinian hatred to flourish in its institutions.

"As we witness a new wave of shocking and risky racism, the entire world must stand up and unequivocally denounce anti-Semitism", Danon stated during the visit.

Gueterres will visit Israel and Palestine August 28-30. "It's time to place the issue squarely on the table and address it head-on", Hotovely said, as quoted by The Times of Israel news outlet, adding that Israel will "no longer tolerate anti-Israel bias". Guterres wrote several days ago to the UN Security Council that he intends to examine ways to increase UNIFIL's efforts, but stressed that it is the Lebanese army that bears the primary responsibility for the illegal evacuation of southern Lebanon.

She also criticized the commander of the UNIFIL peacekeepers, accusing him of turning a blind eye to Hezbollah's weapons smuggling.
