The test, which was first spotted by The Next Web's Matt Navarra via Twitter user Mário Rui André, is now being run with small number of Instagram users in at least Portugal.

Facebook added its own version of Stories earlier this year, but it seems it hasn't taken off quite like its Instagram counterpart. Fifty-five percent of Americans 50 and older say they've gotten news from social media, up from 45 percent (older people are also driving the increasing percentage of people who get news via mobile).

Zuckerberg & Co. have embedded Stories into pretty much every Facebook app, including Messenger and WhatsApp.

Sixty-seven percent of Americans report getting some of their news via social media at some point, according to a Pew Research survey of just under 5,000 US adults conducted last month and published Thursday.

On paper, a trade involving a third-string quarterback during cut-down weekend might seem to be a minor transaction. Brissett started and played the entire game in the Patriots' final preseason game on Thursday.

"We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you. We have no other plans to share at this time", an Instagram spokesperson said in an official statement, as per Mashable.

It is unusual for a photo sharing App to test such close integration with tech giant Facebook.

Of course, this is only a test, so there's still a chance Facebook might not roll out the feature for everybody. Both Apps have traditionally kept separate from the beginning.

According to a report in The Verge, this new feature will simultaneously share the image and video of the story to Instagram as well as Facebook stories. The company now hopes to solve that problem by intermingling Instagram Stories and Facebook Stories.
