Miss North Dakota has been crowned the next Miss America during the annual beauty pageant held in Atlantic City on Sunday night.

However, Miss Dakota 2017 Cara Mund made history for the Roughrider State when she won the coveted Miss America 2018 crown on Sunday.

Trump had not mentioned Mund or her comment on the Paris accord on Twitter as of early Monday morning.

In the talent section she performed a jazz dance to "The Way You Make Me Feel" for the contest's talent portion.

In one of her onstage interviews, Mund said Trump was wrong to withdraw the US from the climate accord aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming.

"It's a bad decision", Mund said. Maria Menounos asked her about climate change and North Dakota believed that our government's position on the issue is incorrect.

She says there's "evidence that climate change is existing".

Miss Missouri, Jennifer Davis, was asked whether she believed the Trump campaign was innocent or guilty of collusion with Russian Federation.

She is the first contestant from her state to win the Miss America crown. She takes over for last year's victor, Miss Arkansas Savvy Shields. (Bet you didn't know that North Dakota was the "Peace Garden State", did ya?) Mund is a 23-year-old student at Brown University, and she plans on attending Notre Dame Law School after taking a year off to serve as Miss America. "Once we reject that, we take ourselves out of the negotiation table", she said referring to the Paris agreement. Miss Texas told judge - and PEOPLE and EW Editorial Director - Jess Cagle that the white supremacist violence in Charlottesville "was very obviously a terrorist attack" and that President Trump should have spoken out on it sooner. Mund also has political blood - she's related to Victoria Claflin Woodhull, who was the first woman to run for president and the first woman to run a brokerage firm on Wall Street.

During the competition, she revealed her mother as her greatest role model. In August, she encouraged her followers on Instagram to "get involved with @makeawishamerica by contacting your local chapter!"

The Miss America Organization requires each contestant to purse a personal platform, which can be a charitable cause or foundation, philanthropic venture, or personal passion.
