LeT Kashmir Chief Abu Ismail Killed in Just 3 Minutes of Firing

'Main accused of the Amarnath Yatra attack Abu Ismail along with his associate Abu Kasim have been eliminated in Nowgam, ' Jammu Police Chief SP Vaid announced.

Maj Gen Raju said Ismail's killing is extremely important because he was responsible for the death of about 14 security forces personnel and eight civilians. Government forces exploited this rift and killed many top rated militant commanders this year itself.

Earlier, two overground workers of the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist outfit were arrested on Thursday in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, police said.

Ismail was said to be behind the attack on a bus carrying pilgrims returning from the Amarnath shrine that claimed eight lives and injured at least a dozen people in July this year.

The July attack was the worst in the divided Himalayan region since 2000, when gunmen fired on a group of Hindu pilgrims and killed 32 people including two police officers.

In a press conference by J&K Police, Khan said that the two terrorists were shot dead in a very brief encounter, adding tha two AK-47s were receovered from them. The army said "suitable action" would be taken against the troopers seen trampling the bodies of Ismail and Qasim. "This is our strategy".

"This success is also important and we are expecting vacuum in the leadership of LeT".
