Two American Women Suffer Acid Attack at Marseille Train Station

French authorities said they do not believe the attack is terrorism.

At the train station in Marseille (France) four American women at the age of 20 years, a woman doused with hydrochloric acid.

Boston College in MA said the female students were treated for burns at a Marseille hospital after they were sprayed in the face with acid on Sunday morning. The health of the other vitriolage victim is not yet known, and the two other victims, who were physically unharmed, are being treated for shock.

A group of tourists were allegedly sprayed with acid at a busy French train station.

Fourteen firefighters arrived to the station four emergency vehicles after the incident at 11am.

She did not release any further details about the suspects or the victims, including where in the United States the tourists were from.

USA authorities in France are not immediately commenting further on what happened to protect the privacy of the American tourists, embassy spokesman Alex Daniels said.

The alleged attacker has been arrested by police, but is yet to be named.

The tourists were on their way from the southern city to Paris. The two women reportedly sprayed with acid remain in hospital. The suspect has been arrested.

La Provence, the main local newspaper, quoted police sources as saying that after the attack, the suspect had displayed pictures of herself with burns on her body.
