Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Winks was subject to a rejected loan bid from French side Nice last season, with boss Mauricio Pochettino refusing to allow the midfielder to depart White Hart Lane, according to Sportsmail.

But in the same sentence he said Manchester United and Mourinho, he said Tottenham was the Harry Kane team.

Kane was named as the Premier League's player of the month of September after a sparkling run of scoring form, but his manager clearly did not take kindly to Guardiola's claim that he is carrying Tottenham on his own.

Despite the frustration it has caused, Pochettino was quick to quash any theory that Guardiola's comments would be the inspiration that will drive his side in their attempts to go one better than their runners-up spot past year.

Pochettino was upset that Manchester City boss Guardiola referred to Chelsea, Manchester United and the "Harry Kane team" when he was talking about City's Premier League title rivals before the global break. "I know Pep and when he is excited after an wonderful win, he struggles to keep his position and be a gentleman".

"The situation didn't affect me but, in reality, it was very disrespectful for many people". "He was part of the big success at Barcelona when Messi was at his best and I never say it was a Messi team".

"I think that many people took his words as very sad and disrespectful to the club. It wasn't disrespectful for myself".

"I respect a lot what Tottenham have done in the last two or three years".

"We need to move on".

Pochettino, whose team are third in the table and take on Bournemouth at Wembley on Saturday, said Guardiola had not yet apologised.

"I think Mauricio, for the times we've met each other and the times I spoke with him... maybe my English is not quite well".

"It's hard to understand because he was part of the big success in Barcelona when it was Messi at his best", Pochettino said at a press conference. But if you're a manager, you must show more - be above this type of comment. "Today we want to show respect, fair play and everything".

"Maybe my memory is not so good, but I was never disrespectful to my colleague".

Asked if he had spoken to Guardiola, Pochettino said: "No, of course not". "No", Pochettino replied. "He didn't call me ... yet".

"But I said it because he scored two goals more against Huddersfield and a goal for the national team and another goal for the national team".
