Tesla recalls 11000 Tesla Model X SUVs

The fault appears to be to do with cables in the seats' fold-flat mechanism, and although it hasn't happened to any customers, Tesla engineers noticed the problem during internal testing. Tesla added that only 3 percent of vehicles he would recall had such a problem.

Tesla says certain cables in affected seats may not have been tightened correctly, which prevents the left seat from locking in an upright position.

To conduct the repairs, the company is deploying its mobile fix service - though customers can still elect to take the vehicle to their local service centre.

The automaker recalled 2,700 Model X vehicles in April 2016 because the third-row seats could move if there were an accident.

In the meantime, Tesla said that impacted owners could still drive their Model X, but the company asks them to "temporarily" avoid having two adults sit in the second row left and center seats at the same time.

"We will be conducting a voluntary recall to inspect the affected vehicles and confirm whether any adjustment is needed", the company said in an emailed statement. This is why company started to recall tools. We will be contacting you soon to schedule this according to your preference.

The Palo Alto, Calif. -based company started informing customers via email about the recall which covers Model X SUVs that have a fold flat down row of back seats and were produced from October 28, 2016, to August 16 of 2017. There haven't been any reports of seat issues in the field.

Tesla had a great appreciation for Model X design. Model X has received the highest rating in every category and subcategory in independent safety tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and we continue to conduct our own internal testing to ensure that Model X remains the safest SUV in the world.
