Facebook has battled an increasingly crowded field of competitive platforms in recent years, but its newest offering may give the social media giant a leg up on the competition: the ability to order food within the app.

Once a restaurant has been selected, hitting Start Order will link Facebook to the ordering system.

Presence of a new option called "Order Food" in the explore menu symbolized by a blue and white hamburger or fork and knife will be perceived. Rather than contending specifically with other food delivery organizations, Facebook is collaborating with a few industry players on this new service that includes EatStreet, Delivery.com, DoorDash, ChowNow, Olo, Zuppler, and Slice.

Facebook is also working with different restaurants directly including Box, Five Guys, Papa John's, Wingstop, TGI Friday's, Denny's, El Pollo Loco, Chipotle, Jimmy John's and Panera.

"If you see your friends talking about a restaurant, you should be able to click over and order food from that restaurant right then and there". Users that already have a Delivery.com account can use their existing logins to place the orders. And even if you do not have an account, you can sign up without leaving the Facebook app. It is now live for all users in the United States on iOS, Android, and desktop.

The food ordering feature appears to be a continuation of this policy. In this way, Facebook does not have to compete with them as it has partnered with these services.
