BJP irks critics for demanding cuts in Tamil movie 'Mersal'

Tamil Nadu Producers Council president and actor Vishal has slammed BJP leader H Raja for watching a pirated version of the newly released Vijay starrer, "Mersal". Notably, GST has been opposed by Jayalaithaa when she was alive and was the chief minister, but subsequently after her death, the new AIADMK regime caved in and agreed in toto with the central government. These dialogues from the film "Mersal" have affected the GST Scheme which was recently introduced by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). "Don't silence critics. India will shine when it speaks". Mersal saw 95% occupancy in theatres on Friday and is said to have done a business close to Rs 70 crore.The movie has enjoyed good viewership in theatres across South India. He further said that the BJP leaders have appreciated "our honest approach to meet them in person, we thank them all" after meeting with state BJP leaders including Tamilisai Soundarajan. "That will lead to people misinterpreting the whole exercise (sic)".

Tamil movie #Mersal producers were forced by BJP to remove scenes criticising GST and Gorakhpur Hospital. "Mersal was certified. Don't re-censor it. Counter-criticism with a logical response". So, what does Vijay want to stop for the building of hospitals?

Meanwhile, the latest we hear is that doctors in Tamil Nadu want to boycott the film for "its bad portrayal of the medical field especially doctors who are portrayed as main villain and stooping to even murder for making money". In another scene, the movie takes a swipe at the digital India policy. Murali himself is very influential; his father, the late Ramanarayanan, was a director, producer and former DMK MLA.
