Infamous developers reveal their new game, Ghost of Tsushima, and a trailer

People expected them to be announcing this game earlier this year, at E3, but when it didn't appear, people were quick to assume the worst of Sucker Punch Productions and their latest project.

The year is 1274.

In writing about the reveal today on the official PlayStation Blog, Sucker Punch game director Nate Fox questioned why no one has to date created a "sprawling samurai open-world game".

Ghost of Tsushima is now in development for PS4.

Even though we're going to take on the role of a samurai in the upcoming adventure, be prepared for some stealth action rather than straight up hack and slash action.

The samurai-themed open world game is set in Japan, though the trailer didn't offer much beyond what amounts to great-looking graphics and the promise that it'll be touching down on PlayStation 4 in 2018. The Mongol army have invaded the island of Tshushima, and you as the player must control one of the last samurai as he attempts to fight off the invading horde. These are all speculations though depending on what we see, so we must wait for more information by Sony. But, honorable tactics won't lead you to victory. Along the way, players will be forced to abandon their traditional ways and embrace a style of fighting referred to as the "way of the Ghost".

Infamous: Second Son released in 2014 and, at the time of its release, IGN's review of the game said it was a departure "in tone for the Infamous series, but its superpowered action lives up to expectations".
