Jahan had on September 20 approached the apex court seeking recall of its order directing the NIA to investigate the case of conversion and subsequent marriage. Earlier while hearing the review plea filed by Shafin Jahan, a Kerala resident, the SC had said that a father can not dictate the life of his adult daughter who is capable of making her own decisions.

The apex court directed the father of the Kerala woman, who had converted to Islam and married a Muslim man, to produce her before it on 27 November. The case, the activist said, was one of the most complex ever, suggesting that Hadiya be given the chance to make a choice by not forcing her to be with either her parents or her husband.
