Blizzard is also giving away the game's online ranked multiplayer mode for free.

Starting on November 14th, everyone can download StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty for free. With its following on the decline, this recent news should introduce a new wave of players to the title. Co-op commanders are freely playable up to level five, with Raynor, Kerrigan, and Artanis remaining completely free. Log in between November 8 and December 8 and Blizzard will give you Heart of the Swarm, the zerg-centric second part, for your trouble. On top of that, Blizzard is offering gamers the chance to unlock StarCraft II's competitive multiplayer content available for free.

If you're done with Wings of Liberty and want more single-player goodness, all of the other single-player campaigns (Heart of the Swarm, Legacy of the Void, and Nova Covert Ops) will be available to purchase individually for $14.99 or as a bundle for $39.99. The news was formally announced by Blizzard during the 2017 Blizzcon opening ceremonies. In the seven years since it released in 2010, StarCraft II has awarded over $11M in prizes to competitors.
