Mueller investigating $15M Flynn plan to snatch exiled cleric

The meeting allegedly discussed a secret payout of up to US$15 million dollars (S$20.4 million) if, once in office, Mr Flynn would engineer the deportation to Turkey of Fethullah Gulen, a political rival to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as help free Iranian-Turkish businessman Reza Zarrab from prison. He was reportedly offered as much as $15 million for the act.

If this sounds vaguely familiar, it's because the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year on a meeting Flynn hosted in NY in September 2016, in which participants basically talked about kidnapping Fethullah Gulen, removing him from his home in Pennsylvania, circumventing America's extradition process, and delivering him to Turkey's government, which considers Gulen a risky enemy.

According to NBC, Mueller's investigators are looking into possible money-laundering charges against the Flynns, as well as charges of lying to federal agents. Flynn then retroactively registered as a foreign agent.

Flynn had been fired by Trump after just 24 days into the job for misleading Vice President Mike Pence about the extent of his conversations with then Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak past year. "All allegations that Turkey would resort to means external to the rule of law for his extradition are utterly false, ludicrous and groundless".

In addition to founding and working for Flynn Intel Group, he joined his father on a trip to Moscow in December 2015 during which Flynn was paid $34,000 to speak at an event celebrating the state-sponsored news agency RT, NBC News reported. Former CIA director James Woolsey earlier told media that Flynn met with Turkish government officials in September 2016 to forcedly send Gulen back to Turkey.

DOCTOR WHO Reveals the New Costume for Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor
There are a lot of colors present in Whittaker's costume; once again a touch that seems to look to the Doctor Who days of old. It means remembering everyone I used to be, while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: "hope".

According to the two reports, the discussions included details of how Gulen, a Muslim cleric who lives in Pennsylvania and has a large Turkish following, could be flown secretly by private jet to the isolated Turkish prison island of Imrali.

Flynn was a senior adviser on national security matters to the Trump campaign at the time, though he was also on a foreign government's payroll. The White House has distanced itself from the men charged by Mueller - Papadopoulos, former campaign manager Paul Manafort and his business associate Rick Gates. "Evidence that Flynn was prepared to act in such an unlawful way could help prove a case against him in other activities as well involving his ties to Russian Federation during the campaign".

Special counsel Robert Mueller is leading an investigation looking into the Trump campaign's supposed ties to Russian Federation during the 2016 election.

Most of what has been reported about Mueller's questioning of Flynn's lobbying work has concerned his efforts on behalf of Turkey.
