The France worldwide has been out injured with a hamstring injury in recent weeks after picking up the problem during the Champions League win over Basel back in September.

Prising him away from the Camp Nou will not be easy, but Manchester United will see the buyout clause of £53 million well within their range, and linking up with French teammate Paul Pogba may just convince Umtiti to make the move to Old Trafford.

If Pogba suffers no setbacks during the global break, Jose Mourinho is hopeful that he will be available for United's clash at home to Newcastle United on November 18. The list includes the likes of Chris Smalling, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Scott McTominay.

The Red Devils scored an average of three goals per-game with Pogba in the side, but have scored almost half as many, an average of 1.6 per-game.

Veteran midfielder Michael Carrick also participated in the training sessions on Wednesday and Thursday.
