President Trump discounts accusations against Roy Moore

Several allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced during the 2016 presidential campaign against Trump, who has denied them. "When you're a star, they let you do it", Trump said on the "Access Hollywood" tape. Jones, a former federal prosecutor, has overtaken Moore in polls since allegations of sexual misconduct were first reported by the Washington Post two weeks ago.

President Trump said he is "very happy" that women are speaking out about their experiences.

The president's remarks came as Moore has faced mounting pressure from Republicans, as well as Trump's daughter, Ivanka, over accusations that he pursued romantic relations with teenage girls and sexually molested two of them. "Now he's looking at the situation and thinking there's a chance that Roy Moore can win, and if Roy Moore can win, that's ultimately in his interest because all he cares about is getting a big legislative win".

"We don't need a liberal person in there", President Trump said of Mr Moore's rival, Democrat Doug Jones.

A reporter shouted a follow-up in response: "Is an accused child molester better than a Democrat?"

"Judge Moore will help President Trump get done what needs to be done", Young added.

In response, Trump slammed Ball for being ungrateful and actually said , "I should have left them in jail". The team's head coach, Steve Alford, later announced the trio was suspended indefinitely.

For Mr Trump, who notes that Mr Moore has repeatedly denied the allegations, the line has not yet been crossed. More women have since spoken out with allegations of their own.

The ad began airing Monday night.

"He denies it", Trump told reporters at the White House.

Ben DuPré, who identified himself as a longtime Moore ally, said the former judge is "above reproach".

Moore's camp has begun firing back at the media and one of the accusers.

One of them, Leigh Corfman, said she was 14 years old when Moore, then 32, initiated sexual contact with her.
