Massage Envy facing new lawsuits in Bend, nationally

Being safe at Massage Envy was never a concern for Katie Taylor, although she is rethinking that after hearing that more than 180 women reported sexual assaults at Massage Envy locations across the country.

Adam Horowitz is a lawyer representing victims in more than two dozen sexual misconduct cases against Massage Envy. He admitted to police that he touched her inappropriately.

After one year and several calls to police, Rigo was arrested.

"It's really a challenge when you're dealing with a company with so many locations that all have the same name", said Phylissia Landix, of the Dallas Better Business Bureau. "It's why we are constantly listening, learning and looking at how we can do more".

The victim told NBC 7 she is grateful that the nation-wide investigation by the online news site BuzzFeed alerted the public to the potential dangers women face at massage businesses.

Another woman in OR said that her massage therapist also sexually assaulted and ejaculated on her.

The company said the incidents "occurred over a span of 15 plus years and 125 million massages".

The Buzzfeed "article references 180 reported incidents", the company said in a statement to The Washington Post.

Meanwhile, therapists accused of sexual misconduct are remaining at Massage Envy or being quietly fired without being reported to professional regulatory boards, which means they can easily go on to another spa with a sparkling clean record.
