Acknowledging the role of terror outfits like JuD and LeT are waging a "jihad" for the liberation of Kashmir from India, the former Pakistan president said, "Yes, they are involved in Kashmir and I support them".

"I am a big Lashkar-e-Toiba's supporter also, " he added.

The Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder and banned Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) head, who carries a United States dollars 10 million American bounty on his head for terror activities, walked free on Friday after the Pakistan government decided against detaining him further in any other case.

"I didn't know him much frankly then", he said, implying that he shouldn't have acted against LeT.

Pakistan's former president Pervez Musharraf said he is the biggest supporter of Lashkar-e-Taiba. India got them declared as terrorists after partnering with the US. Also, Pervez Musharraf claimed Saeed was not involved in Mumbai Terror attack of 2008 because Saeed denied the charges. The organisation that is exclusively responsible for banned Lashkar-e-Taiba is The Jammat-ud-Dawa that was responsible for carrying out the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008.

Interestingly, it was the Musharraf government that banned LeT in Pakistan in 2002.

His release was met with global outcry, with the United States warning Pakistan of repercussions if he's not immediately re-arrested.

A Lahore High Court had recently freed Hafiz Saeed from 10 months of house arrest after Islamabad failed to submit enough proof against him. The US too has designated him a global terrorist and has announced a reward of $10 million for information leading to his arrest and conviction. His organisation JuD has already been declared as a foreign terrorist organisation by the U.S. in June 2014.

He said he would not have banned the LeT group if he had known more about Saeed.

His statements come amid several Pakistani leaders defending JuD chief Hafiz Saeed's release and openly supporting the Kashmir cause. He said, "I feel sad that a man of his integrity, who has been the chief of the Pakistan Army as well as the President, has praised something like this".
