She said her complaints were dismissed by flight attendants.

Randi Zuckerberg lashed out at Alaska Airlines after a flight Wednesday during which, she says, a male passenger made "repeated lewd, inappropriate, and offensive sexual remarks", which were brushed aside by flight staff.

Two executives from Alaska Airlines assured her that they are conducting an investigation and have temporarily suspended the co-passenger's travel privileges.

After I told them that I was extremely uncomfortable, they suggested to me that they could re-seat me in a middle seat at the very back of the plane, Which I nearly did until I realised why should I have to move?

Randi Zuckerberg is a former executive of Facebook, the company founded by her brother Mark Zuckerberg. "Their response was that this guy was a frequent Alaska Airlines on this exact route, and that they have had to talk to him about his behavior in the past", she said.

Flight attendants told Zuckerberg the passenger was a frequent flyer with the airline, and while they have had to talk to him about his behavior in the past, she shouldn't take it personally because he "just doesn't have a filter".

"Why is it the woman that needs to switch seats in this situation?" She was asked if she had sexual fantasies about her travel partner by the man next to her, who continued to make vulgar comments as other female passengers got on the flight.

The letter explicitly said Zuckerberg was going to write about her appalling experience on social media, and it went viral once posted on Facebook.

"What Randi Zuckerberg shared with us is very disturbing", Lane said, later adding: "As a company, we have zero tolerance for any type of sexual misconduct that creates an unsafe environment for our guests and crew members".

Zuckerberg wrote a lengthy email to the airline's leadership after leaving a flight feeling "disgusted" and "degraded." .

She did not immediately respond to a request for additional comment.

The actual number of assaults was likely far greater, as the majority go unreported.

"Passengers have a right to feel secure, and airlines have a legal duty to protect passengers from harassment, especially if they are aware that a passenger is being harassed", Mr Maloney said.
