Bhansali says Padmavati work of fiction, CBFC says will consult historians

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama is embroiled in a controversy with various Rajput groups and political leaders accusing the director of distorting history.

Some of the other questions put to Bhansali were: How could you assume that the movie could be released on December 1 when you applied to the CBFC on November 11 (as per the Cinematography Act, the CBFC may take 68 days before certifying a movie)?

Meanwhile, Joshi told the committee that the censor board's main objection to the film was that it was shown to a few people before certification.

Salman, who has earlier worked with the filmmaker in Khamoshi (1996) and Hum Dil Chuke Sanam (1999), has also said that Bhansali is a responsible filmmaker and will not make a film that will offend anyone.
