The Jets buried their fourth-quarter demons - at least for one week.

According to multiple sources, Wilkerson sat out the early part of Sunday's win against the Chiefs for the same reason he was temporarily benched in a game last season as he showed up late to another team practice. In a shootout against the Jets they needed just a little bit more magic. But the Chiefs' defense collapsed, allowing nearly 500 yards to the Jets.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 6-5 and in first place in the AFC West entering their Week 13 matchup against the New York Jets.

Meanwhile, New York kept its faint playoff hopes alive by snapping a two-game skid and holding on to a fourth-quarter lead. The Chiefs then jumped ahead when Tyreek Hill caught his second long touchdown of the day, this one 40 yards from Smith. The two Jets wide receivers combined for 264 yards and 17 receptions of QB Josh McCown's 26 completions and 331 yards.

The scoring slowed in the second with the Chiefs taking a three-point lead with just under three minutes to go in the half after a Harrison Butker 36-yard field goal. In past collapses, the Jets committed a host of dumb penalties.

Should the Chiefs lose those either of those matchups, their season could be fading to black shortly thereafter and leaving Kansas City to spend an offseason thinking about why things went horribly wrong. That gave the Jets the ball at the 1 with a new set of downs.

Kansas City's Bennie Logan and Steven Nelson were the goats, because after their defensive penalties, the Jets finally stepped on the Chiefs' throats. The Jets failed to score on two more plays before McCown put the Jets head for good.

After the holding call, Peters walked over, picked up the flag and chucked it into the stands, where the fan who caught it proceeded to take pictures with it on his cell phone. His performance this week definitely does much to quell the cries for rookie quarterback Patrick Mahomes, however, Smith must continue to build off of his performance this week in order to regain faith from the Chiefs' entire offense. The Chiefs did get the two early touchdown passes, both to Travis Kelce.
