Worse yet, Barclays Center management, which originally signed a 25-year deal with the Islanders, stated at the beginning of 2017 they wanted their hockey-playing tenants out of their building and put on the table a January 1 deadline to renegotiate the terms of their deal where, if the two sides weren't able to come to an accord, Barclays Center would have been able to choose to keep the current deal or opt out.

"For us as players and our fan base to have somewhere you know it's written in stone that we're going to have a home built for the Islanders on Long Island is pretty special", Tavares said.

Joining the Islanders in the proposal is Oak View Group, whose investors include James Dolan's Madison Square Garden Co., which owns its namesake arena as well as the Knicks and Rangers, and Sterling Equities, which owns baseball's New York Mets.

New York City FC, which now plays at Yankee Stadium, was also interested in the site, Bloomberg Sports reported Tuesday.

The New York Islanders bid to build a new arena at Belmont Park will be selected by the state of New York, Newsday's Jim Baumbach reports.

Thanks, in part, to Harry Reid, the Pentagon was tracking UFOs
According to Luis Elizondo, who was at the head of the program, "the phenomena studied did not seem to come from any country". He assures that China and Russian Federation "are much more open", as well as "Belgium, France, England or Chile".

Price of gas falls in MA to $2.46 per gallon
The average price for a gallon of gas in CT is $2.65 ($2.67), $2.63 in NY ($2.65) and $2.71 in Pennsylvania ($2.73). Drivers in IN are paying a bit more for gas this week, but the cost to fill their tanks is less than last month.

The Pentagon admits it had a secret UFO program
Defense Department budgets worth hundreds of billions of dollars. "We tried to work within the system". Bigelow has famously stated in the past that aliens exist and that UFOs have visited Earth.

Some details about the project remain unclear, including when the team will begin playing in the new arena, and whether it will have to find a temporary home after it leaves Brooklyn's Barclays Center after the 2018-19 National Hockey League season. The racetrack is home to the third leg of horse racing's Triple Crown. Another bid for the site which was not accepted was put in by the New York Football Club.

For more than 40 years, the Islanders played at the Nassau Coliseum.

"This will be more than an arena", Ledecky said.

State officials in July asked for proposals to develop the site, saying part of their aim was to transform Belmont Park into a entertainment, sports, hospitality and retail complex. He said the project will be completely financed privately.

The coliseum, about 15 miles (24 kilometers) east of Belmont, reopened a year ago following a $165 million renovation. The new arena will be situated in one of the track's parking lots, not far from a Long Island Rail Road station.
