Donald Trump's Global Warming Tweet Shows How Little President Understands Science

Okay, so let's see if we have this one right: Trump is saying that the U.S could use a little global warming, while also saying that the USA was prepared to pay "TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS" to protect against it? Hmm... Earth is becoming warmer overall, but given the complexity involved in climate and weather patterns, that warming doesn't mean it is getting hotter everywhere all the time.

Trump's tweet is not just ignorant because it goes against the vast scientific consensus of human-caused climate change, it also reflects the president's belief that the energy restrictions of the Paris climate agreement would cost and taxpayer money.

He tweeted: "In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year's Eve on record".

The president's tweets are in keeping with his previous statements about climate change.

One of the biggest problems with Trump referring to the weather in one specific place or region at a specific time as his reason for denying climate change is that, that reason is anecdotal and isn't an actual reflection of larger patterns that require more than just the individual experience of one person to formulate.

After a holiday break playing golf in the Sunshine State, President Donald Trump took to Twitter Thursday to call for a dose of global warming to alleviate bitterly cold temperatures on the East Coast.

"I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris", Trump said during his announcement of the Paris withdrawal in June.

Trump has tweeted similar, almost verbatim thoughts about his climate/weather confusion before.

In 2015, he wrote: "It's really cold outside, they are calling it a major freeze, weeks ahead of normal". And in December 2013 he was in a "freezing" Los Angeles, prompting him to say "Global warming is a total, and very expensive, hoax!"
