USA won't recognize North-South talks without denuclearization

In a New Year's Day address Kim Jong-un said the USA could not start a war against his country because he has a nuclear weapons button on his desk and claimed the whole of America is in the range of his missiles. The worldwide community made the mistake of failing to do that in 2009.

The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations rejected potential talks between Seoul and Pyongyang at a news conference here Tuesday, rebuffing the prospect of any substantive dialogue without a commitment by the North to abandon its nuclear weapons.

"The great Iranian people have been repressed for many years". "Dozens have already been killed. All freedom-loving people must stand with their cause", Nikki Haley told reporters at the UN's NY headquarters.

Nikki Haley, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, said today: "We hear reports that North Korea might be preparing for another missile test".

Haley said "nowhere is the urgency of peace, security, and freedom being more tested than in Iran", noting that "citizens are taking to the streets to protest the oppression of their own government". She called on Iran's supreme leader to feel the shame he has brought on his people, saying, "If the Iranian dictatorship's history is any guide, we can expect more outrageous abuses in the days to come".

The demonstrations in Iran, which have erupted against a backdrop of rising food and gasoline prices, began Thursday in the northeastern city of Mashhad before spreading to other cities.

"We won't take any of the talks seriously if they don't do something to ban all nuclear weapons in North Korea", Haley said.

Five things to know about the Iranian protests
But Iranian officials and state media added that citizens had the right to protest and have their voices heard on social issues. A semi-official news agency in Iran has quoted a government official as saying two protesters were killed at a rally overnight.

The Republican-controlled Congress has thus far continued to fund these programs at previous levels. Globally, there are 37 million people estimated to be carrying the disease.

"We want to help amplify the voices of the Iranian people", Haley said before repeating some of the slogans voiced by protesters. "We must not make that mistake again".

Iran's missile program is not in breach of its nuclear deal and will continue despite objections from the United States, President Hassan Rouhani has said. We must not be silent.

South Carolina's senior senator also criticized the response of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to the protests.

Haley also addressed the Trump administration's decision to withhold $255 million in aid from Pakistan for what it has described as harboring terrorists.

"However, as I said in December, we won't forget the Jerusalem vote".

Still, a senior administration official said United States officials are taking inventory of ways they can be supportive of the demonstrations and come up with "creative" ideas.
