Jammu and Kashmir Blast In Sopore Kills 4 Policemen

Four police officers were killed and two others injured on Saturday in a massive improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore, according to reports.

Militant outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad claimed responsibility of the attack. The area has been cordon off.

The militants had attacked the 185th battalion camp of the Central Reserve Police Force in Awantipora around 2 am on 31 December. "My deepest condolences to their families", she said in a tweet. "The Shaheed Afzal Guru squad carried out the attack", he said. These young policemen were killed when they were on duty to protect the people in the town., Mufti said here.

The impact of the blast was so huge that it damaged six shops and created a carter. The injured were shifted to hospital and a search operation is underway, a police officer said.
