Warmer temperatures, freezing rain could cause flooding this weekend

This Winter Storm Watch highlights the area of the state we are expected the most snowfall and thus highest impacts from winter weather expected late Wednesday through Thursday. South wind around 17 miles per hour. Winds will be light, with a high temperature around 57 degrees, and a low of 39 is in the forecast. South wind 13 to 17 miles per hour.

Significant accumulations of snow and ice are possible. Breezy, with a south wind 17 to 22 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 33 miles per hour.

Warmer temperatures coupled with the chance of freezing rain could cause flooding this weekend, especially in western NY, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday, snow showers are likely, mainly before 9 a.m., with a high of 29. The combination of accumulating snowfall and the strong winds may produce blizzard conditions.

The winter weather advisory remains in effect from midnight tonight until 6P.M. Thursday. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Sunday will be mostly sunny, with a high of 31 and low of 19.
