A Nintendo Direct announcement hit the internet this morning, bearing fantastic news for Switch owners. Many will also be wondering what all of these recent Dark Souls developments could mean for the future of the franchise.

Developed by FromSoftware Inc., DARK SOULS: REMASTERED allows players to explore the twisted ancient land of Lordran in the first title of the critically acclaimed action role-playing series like never before. The set collects all three Dark Souls games along with a host of extra stuff, but the price tag is a bit high.

I haven't looked at the reactions to the latest Nintendo Direct from fans, but I can imagine that a lot of people are dropping snarky comments about how the system gets so many older games.

Nintendo only facilitated the reveal though, as the remaster will also be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Dark Souls: Remastered will run $40 and will be up for grabs May 25. The remastered version will be released on 25 May 2o18 with "improved framerate and resolution", according to Nintendo. The box set will include all three Dark Souls games, each respective game's soundtrack, framed art, Dark Souls' themed bookends, and three dictionaries containing the entirety of Dark Souls' item list. I also hope the remaster can enticepeople who were maybe turned off by the original game's issues.

The only disappointment is the lack of a Virtual Console for the Switch, a feature that can be found in the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. As of yet, we do not know how that will be split between cooperators and invaders.

Sure, 10 million worldwide sales have probably helped out in that regard, but it's clear those outside the Nintendo bubble feel different about the Switch.
