An investigation ultimately revealed that Zengotita-Torres, who had moved to Florida from Puerto Rico with her family over a year ago, was mistaken for the target of a murder-for-hire plot, according to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

Reports state that the killer duo forced Zengotita-Torres into the trunk of her vehicle, tortured her for her ATM card, and then suffocated and killed her with garbage bags.

Analysts trust they did in the end acknowledge they'd grabbed the wrong individual yet "proceeded with their arrangement of murder and tied the casualty with zip ties, and after that her head in channel tape and junk sacks", Gibson said.

Quinones-Montes (left) and Ramos-Rivera (right) abducted Zengotita-Torres and took her to an apartment.

The victim was identified as Janice Marie Zengotita-Torres, 42, of Kissimmee, a city in central Florida's Osceola County, just south of Orlando.

The wrong woman was killed in a bungled murder-for-hire plot arranged by a woman who had been scorned by a man. Ishnar Marie Lopez, 35, was upset that the "man she loved" was in a relationship with another woman so she plotted to have her murdered, Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson said.

Ramos-Rivera beat Zengotita-Torres until she was unconscious and she eventually suffocated to death from the garbage bags around her head.

Investigators believe Zengotita-Torres, the married mother of a 14-year-old boy, was kidnapped and killed instead of the intended victim.

After following Zengotita-Torres back to her apartment, they forced her into the trunk of her own auto and drove to an apartment near The Mall at Millenia in Orlando. The three suspects dumped Torres' body 91 miles away in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Ormond Beach.

Gibson said he was emotional because he feels the victim's pain.

Lopez was arrested Friday (12 January) when she attempted to use an ATM card.

At some point during the kidnapping, he said the suspects realized they had the wrong woman, opting to nevertheless go through with the homicide.

Authorities arrested Lopez-Ramos on Friday after she was caught on surveillance camera allegedly wearing Zengotita-Torres's clothing while trying to use the victim's ATM card.

All three suspects face first-degree premeditated murder charges, according to records with the Osceola County Corrections.
