Amtrak Train 91 was carrying 136 passengers from NY to Miami when it hit a stationary CSX Corp train parked on a side track at around 2:35 a.m. local time. The Amtrak train, which had 139 passengers and eight crew members on it, was traveling between NY and Miami, CNN reports.

The injured were transported to local hospitals, Lexington County spokesman Harrison Cahill said. The railroad company said that the lead engine and some of the passenger cars had come off the tracks. There were eight crew members and approximately 140 passengers on board.

The coroner's office confirmed that two people were killed and both appeared to be Amtrak personnel.

The two employees who died were 54-year-old Michael Kempf, the train engineer, and 36-year-old Michael Cella, who was the train conductor, ABC reported.
