Soldier, injured in Jammu terror attack, dies — Sunjwan attack updates

SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) - Two junior-level officers of the Indian army and two militants were killed while nine others, including women and children, wounded Saturday in an ongoing gunfight in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir.

A senior Home Ministry official said the attack had tell-tale signs that the terrorists belonged to Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohmmad (JeM). "The operations will continue till all terrorists are apprehended or killed", he said.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra expressed concern over the militant attack at Sunjwan Army Camp here today, and reiterated his advise about the need for an uncompromising audit of all security establishments.

27 hours later, the operation in the army camp is still on.

Armed insurgency by Muslim separatists and the tough military campaign by the security forces to crush it have claimed thousands of lives in Jammu and Kashmir since 1989.

The injured include Col Rohit Solanki of 6-Mahar Regiment and Major Abhijeet, sources added.

Inspector General of Police (Jammu) SD Singh Jamwal told reporters in Jammu that "around 4:55 am suspicious movement was noticed by the sentry and his bunker was sacked upon".
