The 2014 Sochi Olympics had no simultaneous live streaming and no competing prime-time Olympic cable coverage.

NBC has said that it will sell more than $900 million in advertising on broadcast television, cable and digital platforms for the games. That season, the network had Friends averaging an astonishing 24.5 million viewers a week.

The NBC-only audience from 7 to 11 p.m. was 22.8 million viewers.

NBC says viewers on digital platforms have consumed five times the total streaming minutes at PyeongChang - 1.1 billion - versus 243 million streaming minutes for the 2014 Sochi Olympics through the middle Thursday.

The total audience delivery for Thursday's coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics has come in at 19.3 million viewers.

Friday's opening ceremony was the most-watched prime-time program between February 5 and Sunday, averaging 27.837 million viewers, 12.2 percent less than the 31.69 million average in 2014.

UniMas was third, averaging 710,000 viewers, followed by Estrella TV, which averaged 270,000 and Azteca America, which averaged 80,000.

The "NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt" was second, averaging 9.176 million viewers. It has finished third each week since the week of September 25-29, 2006.
