With about 7 minutes remaining in the USA women's hockey victory over Finland on Friday, the video board above the ice showed a brief clip of the 1998 American women winning gold at the Winter Games in Nagano, Japan.

Dani Cameranesi scored two goals and United States goaltender Maddie Rooney made 14 saves as the Americans, who haven't won Olympic gold in 20 years, booked a berth in Thursday's championship game.

Memorable Knight: Usually high performing USA forward Hilary Knight has one goal and Brianna Decker doesn't have any. "It's awesome, on the world's biggest stage, to have two powerhouses going for it at the end". This is the game that you want. "You have to keep working and do the things you do well".

Canada advanced to the gold medal game with a 5-0 rout over the Olympic Athletes from Russian Federation. The Finns, ranked third in the world a year ago, will try to take home the bronze medal for the first time since 2010.

"I don't think words do it justice", forward and Sochi veteran Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson said. "This was really a gold medal preparation for us". Lamoureux-Davidson, Knight and Gigi Martin also scored as the USA women dominated.

"Tonight we beat a very good goaltender and a very good hockey team", Stauber said.

"It's spectacular to see our team come out and perform that well because there was a lot of pressure", said U.S. coach Robb Stauber. Yet as much as the U.S. team is thrilled to have been so dominant at the annual World Championships, they want Olympic gold. While that Olympic history isn't something the USA squad necessarily enjoys reliving, in many ways, those games define the American team just as much they do the Canadians.

The History of Presidents' Day

UKIP members voted to sack embattled leader Henry Bolton
Former army officer Bolton, 54, was not widely known outside the party when he became UKIP's fourth leader in a year in September. Outgoing party chairman Paul Oakden told delegates to remain faithful to the party regardless of the decision.

That's the challenge for the Americans now, to prove to themselves this mental hurdle is not too permanent to clear, to make true all their assertions following the one-goal, group-play loss that their hefty shots-on-goal advantage and clear run-of-play dominance is enough to translate into a win this time around.

Savolainen stayed on the ice for a couple minutes before being helped up and off the ice.

This will be the fifth time that American athletes fight for primacy in this Olympic discipline.

"I've been watching a lot of the events and Norway has been killing it", Newton said. "I was taking so long my feet were pretty cold". "It was a little strong because it was a hard hit".

Duggan said she didn't expect an issue regarding a possible ban for the final. "Everything's at stake", Duggan said before the Olympics even started. "There wasn't a call on the ice". The gold medal game also saw heroics from Marie Philip-Poulin, who scored both goals for Canada. "We just put pucks to the net and we kept repeating it".

Korea attacked in formation, set up in front of the Swedish net, blocked shots in their own zone and occasionally shoved opponents into the boards, shows of discipline and hunger missing from other games. "We've been focused on what we have to do - we just have to find a way to finish".
