"There is a fire after boiler blast in the Boisar industrial estate".

The explosion occurred on Thursday night, and was forceful enough to shatter windows in buildings as far as 3 km away, say local reports. The search operations for suspected labourers who may be trapped inside will start after that. The three deceased, identified as Pintu Kumar Gautam, Janu Adaria and Alok Nath suffered severe blast impact. Our team has reached the spot with fire brigade, Manjunath Singe, Superintendent of Police, Palghar said. Reports state that a total of six chemical factories were affected by the fire. The 14 injured were admitted to a nearby hospital, of which at least two are said to be critical, and may have to be shifted to Mumbai. "The fire has come down, but few areas are still burning". The plant manufactures speciality chemicals and cosmetic preservatives dealing in high-purity acid and acid anhydrides, which are organic compounds. They include Novophene, Unimax, Arti, Prachi, Rasayan and Darbar.

The fire, which had spread to the other companies, has been brought under control and efforts are on to douse it, an officer said. "All precautionary measures are now in place", Palghar police superintendent Manjunath Singhe told The Indian Express. The cause of the fire will now be ascertained.
