Rex Tillerson cuts short Africa trip to return to Washington

Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina quoted Buhari as saying this at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday when he received the U.S. Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.

Tillerson, who had visited Chad while CEO of Exxon Mobil Corp., called the African nation an "important partner".

Tillerson, who became the most senior USA official to set foot in Chad, expressed hope the restrictions will be lifted.

Both oil-producing countries are struggling to contain the Islamist Boko Haram insurgency.

But the schedule was shortened because of work and Tillerson will leave after a few hours, aides said.

"We have seen this occur in other countries that were not so careful and as a result they got themselves in a situation where they awfully lost control of their infrastructure, lost the ownership and the operation of it".

Tillerson has not commented substantively on the North Korea talks.
