Taylor Swift Gives Surprise Performance At Cafe Where She Was Discovered

It was supposed to be an Easter eve concert by legendary country songwriter Craig Wiseman, but the night took an unexpected turn when Taylor Swift emerged to a standing ovation and stole the show.

"I wanted to say a big thank you to the Bluebird Cafe", Taylor said on stage.

"For old times' sake", as Wiseman said, he brought out tiny bottles of Fireball for himself and Swift. "I will always be forever grateful to them for that".

After that story he handed the 10-time Grammy victor a small bottle of Fireball, which she then shot back.

Wiseman, who has penned tracks like Tim McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dying", was the sole performer listed Saturday, but Swift appeared unannounced to share the stage, shocking the 40 or so patrons in attendance.

As Swift points out, "I've never encountered homophobia and she has".

According to the Tennessean, Swift devoted some particular praise to the Bluebird Cafe itself, portraying it as a unique and essential venue for songwriters.

The Bluebird Café holds a special place in Swift's heart, as it was there, as a curly-haired eighth-grader strumming an acoustic guitar, that she was discovered by record exec Scott Borchetta. "I'm not over-sexualizing my music". The Bluebird is a Nashville institution, offering up regular performances from working musicians and songwriters responsible for many of country's - and pop music's - greatest hits. And of course she performed Love Story - arguably the song that skyrocketed her into worldwide stardom. The singer's Reputation Stadium Tour will launch in May and will visit Nashville's Nissan Stadium Aug. 25.
