Bollywood star Khan jailed for poaching antelope

Salman was lodged in the Jodhpur Central Jail as Qaidi No. 106.

On 28 March, Judge Dev Kumar Khatri had reserved the order after the final arguments were heard.

On Saturday, Judge Ravindra Kumar Joshi ordered him to sign a surety bond of Rs 50,000 before he could be set free from the jail.

Khan has almost $90 million riding on his projects in coming months with at least three films in the pipeline, analysts say.

The actor has already spent two nights as Qaidi No. 106 in Jodhpur Central Jail following his conviction in the blackbuck poaching case by a lower court on Thursday.

Four other actors who starred with him in the movie and were also charged with the offence have been acquitted.

Along with Khan - who was last seen in the movie Tiger Zinda Hai - actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre and Tabu, were among the six co-accused in the case.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan left prison on Saturday after being granted bail so he can contest a five-year jail sentence for killing rare antelopes.

Asaram's counsel on January 15 told the court that in the Gujarat case, out of 92 witnesses, 22 material witnesses have been examined, 14 of them have been dropped and rest need to be examined.

As per a notice issued yesterday by the Registrar General of the Rajasthan High Court, Judge Joshi is one among 87 sessions court judges who have been transferred. "Yesterday I got threatening SMSes and internet calls warning me not to appear for Salman Khan in bail hearing today", Salman's lawyer Mahesh Bora said.
