It feels extremely relevant alongside another news item from yesterday, wherein we discovered that former Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner is taking a job in the marijuana industry, while his own political party uses their control of the White House to double down on that racist "war", and a disproportionately high number of people of color are still in prison from-or otherwise affected by convictions of-working in the very same industry. At the time of the study's commissioning, Cuomo invoked a turning of the tide, both in the Northeast region and nationally.

Cuomo, after an event on Long Island, responded to the announcement. She spoke in favor of cannabis legalization from the start - but has now kicked that plank into high gear.

Boehner has always been close to tobacco lobbyists and the cigarette companies seem likely to take over the legal weed market in time.
