Rash of questionable hits already in National Hockey League playoffs

"It's trying to win a game for your teammates, and your friends, and the guys you spend so much time with together over the year".

That hurdle was finally cleared on Wednesday night when the Winnipeg Jets beat the Minnesota Wild 3-2 to open the National Hockey League post-season at white and wild Bell MTS Place.

Despite winning by one in Game 1, the Winnipeg Jets doubled the number of shots taken by the Minnesota Wild. "I don't think (we took our foot off the gas)". The only situation I can see where Ennis gets in is if Eriksson Ek cannot go, otherwise Jordan Greenway stays in the lineup and deservedly so as he is becoming a real force for the Wild up front.

Copp made it 3-0 at 9:24 when he redirected in a Bryan Little shot.

Winnipeg outshot Minnesota 13-4 in the scoreless first period.

The Jets outshot the Wild 14-5 in the second period - taking a 1-0 lead on Tyler Myers' goal at 8 minutes, 41 seconds - and made Minnesota look the kid brother that wants to play in the game but ends up running home crying. It is one game and in that game give the Jets defenders credit, they shut down the Wild top line.

Now if they get caught up in trying to match the Jets physical play or a retaliation game then it could turn into a long night for the Wild.

Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck faced seven high-danger scoring chances - a lot of them off the rush - and only two quality shots from the Wild's top line of Eric Staal, Jason Zucker and Nino Niederriter. Goalie Probables: Getting the call for the Wild will be Devan Dubnyk (35-23, 2.52 GAA) and he will be opposed by Connor Hellebuyck (44-20, 2.36 GAA). I think we needed to just come out and have that intensity that we have had in the past two-to-three weeks of the season just to make it here.

NBA Regular-Season Ratings Hit 4-Year High
The Cavaliers are only a No. 4 seed after enduring a season of dysfunction, but the King is ready to take this team on his back. Over the course of an 82-game season, the league has had to rely on these qualities a bit too much in the past four years.

Harvey, Irma, Maria retired as Atlantic storm names
An additional fatality in Panama was due to a "shipwreck", bringing the death toll directly associated with Nate to 45. When it hit Puerto Rico, it was still a Category 4, and the strongest storm to hit the US territory since 1928.

Crown Prince begins Spain visit
After Paris, he will head to Madrid , before travelling home ahead of the next Arab League summit meeting, on April 15 in Riyadh. The prince, widely known as MBS, is also expected to meet some French ministers, a source close to his delegation told AFP.

The Minnesota Wild look for a victory to tie up this series before returning home for game three on Sunday.

Wild forward Mikko Koivu tracked down the puck in the Jets zone and after one attempt at a shot, skated behind the net.

If the Wild can bait the Jets into the kind of penalties they fell victim to in recent seasons, maybe Minnesota will have a shot to offset some of Winnipeg's statistical advantages here, but the safe bet is on the Jets simply overpowering their division rivals with the strength of their power play. That included an early power-play opportunity. Minnesota has a solid offensive attack, but it isn't great by any means so the best way to win will be to keep the total combined goals at five or under. They were aggressive all over the ice. Evgeni Malkin led the Penguins with 42 goals and 98 points and former Toronto Maple Leafs right winger Phil Kessel was second on the Penguins with 92 points. Scoring in the loss was Matt Cullen, which was his 12th of the year and Zach Parise, which was his 16th of the year.

Midway through the game, former Calder Trophy victor, defenceman Tyler Myers walked around Minny's Jason Zucker, before shifting his way directly to the Wild cage, and burying a quick snapshot past the near-unbeatable Devan Dubnyk. When asked if Economic Development Winnipeg might also host parties when the Jets play away, Schaubroeck said they're not looking at that possibility yet but nothing is off the table. There is no such thing as a flawless game, but in todays world we have to be so black and white as to why something happened. "We count on him".

The Wild are in the postseason for the sixth consecutive season. He led the league past year in the postseason with 13 goals (21pts).

Fans are primed for these playoffs.

Myers' chance had been set up by young Jack Roslovic, dressed on an emergency basis to take the place of injured Mathieu Perreault.
